Colette wants to be friends but doesn’t have any good answer for them when they ask what she is doing, so she invents a pet that she has lost, a parakeet. This book will provide the reader with an edifying jolt of reality that would awaken the oblivious person to the current state of affairs. Combines crime and intellectual heft. Sigerson Holmes maybe, but not Sherlock.
